3-5
During 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Physical Education classes we focus on building the key components to a healthier self; muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, body composition and cardiovascular fitness.
I try to prepare the students for sports that will be available to them in middle and high school should they choose to try out. The units we move through during the school year include; fitness testing/goal setting, basketball, soccer, baseball/softball and volleyball.
We start the year with fitness testing which we repeat at the end of the year. The students are evaluated in 4 areas; a mile run, push ups, sit ups and a shuttle run. Once the initial testing is complete and recorded we practice or train throughout the year in class to improve thier scores.
During the basketball, soccer, baseball/softball and volleyball units the students focus on skills, technique, game understanding and team cooperation.
